Pruszynski recognized as outstanding physiologist
Congratulations to Andrew Pruszynski, PhD, scientist at Robarts Research Institute and assistant professor in the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology who has been awarded the J.A.F. Stevenson award from the Canadian Physiological Society.
“The Stevenson Award is a highly-deserved recognition for Andrew, whose cutting-edge research on sensorimotor function is receiving national and international recognition,” said Marlys Koschinsky PhD, Scientific & Executive Director at Robarts Research Institute.
The award recognizes an outstanding young Canadian physiologist with a visiting professorship. It provides an opportunity to promote collaboration and exchange of information among investigators at Canadian Universities through a keynote address at the annual meeting and an opportunity to lecture at universities across the country.
The award is named after James A.F. Stevenson, former renowned physiologist from Western University.
“It is wonderful to have this peer recognition, especially this award named after James Stevenson who was head of the Physiology Department where I now work,” said Pruszynski.
Pruszynski is a Canada Research Chair in Sensorimotor Neuroscience whose work focuses on understanding how various parts of the nervous system work together to generate skilled movements of the arm and hand.
“Andrew is a rising star at Schulich Medicine & Dentistry and in the international neuroscience community,” said Frank Beier, Chair of the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology. “This is a highly deserved and timely award.”
