New CIHR funding for Robarts scientists

July 12, 2019 - Robarts scientists were awarded funding from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) in the latest project grant competition.

Two projects connected to Robarts Research Institute were funded, exploring new ways to look at spinal cord injury and diagnostic neuroimaging for Parikinson's disease.

The Project Grant program is designed to capture ideas with the greatest potential to advance health-related fundamental or applied knowledge, health research, health care, health systems, or health outcomes.

Arthur Brown, PhD: “Evaluating inhibitors of CSPG synthesis in models of spinal cord injury”

Dr. Penny Macdonald and Ali Khan, PhD: “Advancing Clinically-Useful Diagnostic and Progression Markers of PD with Neuroimaging”

In total, health researchers at Western University were awarded more than $8 million in funding.
