J. Allyn Taylor International Prize in Medicine

Change to 2020 Taylor Prize and Symposium

Each year, Robarts Research Institute awards the distinguished  J. Allyn Taylor International Prize in Medicine to an individual who has made outstanding contributions to the basic or clinical research in the year’s selected topic. It’s premier event, the Taylor Symposium, is held to showcase the tremendous research efforts of many remarkable researchers in the field.

This year, planning and preparation to host this event and adjudicate the award has become complicated due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The uncertainty of the ongoing pandemic has led to the decision to cancel the 2020 Symposium and Prize.

This was not an easy decision, and it was made after consultation with Dr. John Yoo, Dean, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry and the benefactors for the Prize including Mrs. Ann Fleming, Mrs. Lynn Graham and Dr. Cal Stiller.

In the coming months, plans will be developed for the 2021 Symposium and Prize. We will be proceeding with the Diabetes research theme for the 2021 event. We look forward to sharing more news on the 2021 plans as they develop.
