Process to appoint Acting Dean
As you are all now aware, Dean Michael Strong will be assuming his new role as President of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research on October 1, 2018. As a result, we will appoint an Acting Dean for the period October 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019 while a full search for the next Dean of Schulich Medicine & Dentistry is undertaken during that time-frame.
It is our long-standing practice in these circumstances to ask faculty and staff members to forward any nominations they may have for the Acting Dean to the attention of the Provost. It is also our practice not to appoint any individual who may be interested in being a candidate for the full-time decanal role. To be very clear on this point, the person who accepts the interim role will not be considered in the search for the next Dean of the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry.
The appointment of an Acting Dean is made by the Board of Governors on the recommendation of the Provost, through the President. Nominations for the interim role will be considered by the Provost-Elect and the President during the next few weeks. As such, we ask that you please email any nominations you may have to provostvpa@uwo.ca by Friday July 13, 2018 for consideration.
