Generously supported by the Stiller Foundation, the Taylor prize acknowledges the significant role J. Allyn Taylor, founding Chair of the Board at Robarts, played in the lives of Stiller family members as well as his personal and professional commitment to integrity, dedication and distinction. It is to Rev. Carl Hilmer Stiller (1910-1971) and the remarkable personal legacy and outstanding achievements which Mr. Taylor represents, that the Stiller family wishes to pay tribute.

TAYLOR PRIZE ENDOWMENT
Carl Hilmer Stiller (1910-1971) was a clergyman, who, along with his wife, Mildred, raised a family of five children on the prairies of Saskatchewan. As an innovative professional, his recognized leadership genius, his empathy and statesmanship earned him the recognition of his peers as he rose to a senior executive position within his denomination. Personally and professionally he demonstrated, with unerring integrity, an intense loyalty and a consistency of purpose.

Following Rev. Stiller's death, J. Allyn Taylor played a significant role in the lives of the family members and reflected many of the same personal and professional qualities of integrity, dedication and distinction they had seen demonstrated by their father. The Stiller family wishes to pay tribute not only to Rev. Stiller's memory and his remarkable personal legacy, but also to the outstanding achievements of J. Allyn Taylor.

THE PRIZE
Robarts Research Institute awards the annual J. Allyn Taylor International Prize in Medicine to an individual or individuals who have made significant contributions to a field of basic or clinical research in one of the Institutes principal areas of research. Each year a topic is selected and the scientific community is invited to nominate individual scientists or groups of scientists whose initiatives fall within that particular field of research. A peer jury then deliberates and the prize winner or winners are identified.

The J. Allyn Taylor International Prize in Medicine consists of a cash reward, an engraved medal bearing the likeness of J. Allyn Taylor and a framed certificate. The award is presented annually at the conclusion of a symposium, sponsored by the Institute, in the successful nominee's field of scientific research.
