I’m often asked about the next big medical discovery or to comment on disease research that has come close to a breakthrough. While these questions are important, I cannot emphasise enough the significance of basic science research.
Many of the researchers at Robarts are studying the smallest of cells, proteins and molecules. This research may seem small in scale but the reach of discovery is exponentially great. Understanding how cells communicate can affect how we look at Parkinson’s and diabetes, while studying how molecules are formed can bring insights to stroke, cancer and much more. When the brightest minds focus on the smallest of details they can end up saving thousands of lives.
The same importance can be laid upon Robarts’ annual donors. Below you’ll read about the many Robarts supporters whose annual contributions are together making a true impact on research.
Thank you all for continuing to support Robarts and from all of us at Robarts and the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry we wish you a happy and healthy holiday.
Sincerely,
Michael Strong, MD, FRCPC
