Funding required for new stroke Chair honouring Robarts founder

In partnership with his late wife Kathleen,Dr. Henry Barnett consistently demonstrated an energy, commitment and generosity of spirit that helped improve the quality of life for countless individuals. A skilled neurologist, dedicated researcher and superior leader, Dr. Barnett is truly the embodiment of a physician scholar.

In honour of Dr. Barnett’s significant contributions to the improvement of human health, Robarts Research Institute aims to raise a minimum of $5 million in private funding to establish the Kathleen & Dr. Henry Barnett Chair in Stroke Research.

Once established, the Barnett Chair holder will boost Robarts’ distinctive research strengths and expand the scope of its national and international influence on stroke prevention and treatment. From complementary disciplines, such as medical imaging and genetics to applied subspecialties of neurological science, the Chair will work with the best minds at Robarts.

The Barnett Chair will contribute to advances in the prevention and treatment of strokes by fostering clinical applications, collaborative research, and knowledge-sharing.

A $3-million endowment will fund the Chair in perpetuity, while the remaining $2 million will provide the core funding necessary for far-reaching stroke research.
