Honouring contributions to sustainability
Ron Vander, Facility Manager at Robarts, is being honoured with a 2019 Western Green Award, recognizing his positive contributions to sustainability on campus.
The Western Green Awards recognize individuals or teams that initiate or support an activity with positive environmental outcomes, encourage participation and involvement, work together with others, groups and organizations to meet their goals, or demonstrate an environmentally friendly effort/campaign.
Vander has organized and hosted several seminars to raise awareness about energy usage at Robarts. He also initiated a contest between the seven building floors at Robarts, to see which floor could save the most energy. He continues to advocate for energy efficient equipment and energy reduction during off-peak times.
Vander will receive the Green Award at the Impact and Innovation Symposium, hosted by Facilities Management on March 29.
