Inspired by Ayden Byle, a young diabetic who ran across Canada to raise money for diabetes research in 1998, Team CDN, standing for “Cure Diabetes Now”, continues to raise money and awareness through various Dash for Diabetes events across the province.
Their primary purpose is to create greater awareness of diabetes and obesity and to encourage each of us to participate in an annual run/walk or jog along the Goderich lakefront supporting diabetes research.
Team CDN has plenty to be proud of – almost $120,000 of research funding here at Robarts!
Our scientists are conducting basic and clinical research that will have an impact on the treatment and prevention of diabetes, including the identification of disease-causing genetic mutations, and investigations that will lead to the development of new drug treatments and improved therapies. Our enduring success as a unique research facility is attributable to the excellence of our scientists, staff and students, and to the generous actions of forward-thinking donors like Team CDN.
