Alzheimer Society Coffee Break

September 29, 2011 - Alzheimer Society Coffee Break

Location: Robarts Fisher Room

Time:  9:00am – 11:00am

Every year the Alzheimer Society asks for the public’s assistance to host a ‘coffee break’ in communities across Canada as a means of fundraising to help support their research in finding a cure for this progressive, degenerative brain disorder. This year’s campaign takes place from September 1st through to October 7th.

For the fourth time in as many years, Robarts Research Institute will host this event with the amazing sponsorship of the Windermere Manor. The Windermere Manor is supplying all the coffee and assorted teas as well as a variety of pastries including cinnamon buns, bagels, muffins, croissants and danishes. Prices are by donation, so please be generous. For those who wish to donate to the Society itself, there will be a form available and donations of $20 or more will be issued a tax receipt.

In the previous three years Robarts has been very generous and has raised a total of $1988 broken down as follows: In 2008 we raised $523 in coffee donations and personal donations. In 2009 we raised $950 from coffee donations, raffle ticket sales and personal donations. In 2010 we raised $515 from coffee donations, personal donations and 50/50 ticket sales.

• Every five minutes someone in Canada develops Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia.
• In London and Middlesex, over 7000 people have been diagnosed with this disease.
• There are half a million people in Canada living with Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia.

Together, let’s make the 2011 campaign one to remember!!

We will once again be offering 50/50 tickets this year at a price of $1 each. Try your luck. If you don’t play, you can’t win.

Come out to support this cause, enjoy a “cup that counts” and add some new meaning to the daily ‘grind’.
