Program
Admission
We encourage
applications from students with diverse undergraduate majors,
including biology, chemistry, computer science, mathematics,
engineering sciences, physics, statistics, and related disciplines.
The program is designed for students embarking on a transdisciplinary
thesis topic that encompasses at least two of the above mentioned
areas.
Students
apply to the CIHR Strategic Training Program by first registering
in their choice of a variety of departments at The University of
Western Ontario or the University of Waterloo. In choosing a research
thesis supervisor, the student and supervisor will explore participation
in our transdisciplinary program. The Program Executive Operations
Committee make final decisions on admission, based on the research
topic and the excellence of the student. They then review the student's
financial support and assign stipends. As the program involves extra
academic demands, only students with A average in the last 2 academic
years will be admitted. Under exceptional circumstances, students
with a B+ average in their last 2 years will be admitted.
The
great flexibility in structuring a suitable graduate thesis project
allows students to tailor their program to suit their interests and
talents. To find out how to register as a graduate student in any
of these departments, visit the links below:
